2024 Elections – Low turnout blamed on lack of voter education

JOHANNESBURG – Civil society organisation Ground Work Collective says while elections were free and fair, voter turnout was disappointing.

Out of more than 26 million registered voters, just over 16 million people cast their ballots.

Mbali Ntuli says the lack of voter education is to blame.

“Civic education is something that was really needed in this country,” she said.
